PRODUCT NAME: Bodygrip Gripper Trap. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: Bodygrip Traps are square, heavy steel traps which have two springs designed to hold strong animals. These springs are in the shape of a "V" and when set, compress the tops of each "V" together. There is a safety latch on each "V" so that once compressed, you can latch it to hold it safely set. Once both "V"'s are compressed, you set the key into the groove of the trigger. Now, place the trap where you want to make the set. Once in place, the safety latches are released and the Bodygrip is ready for it's target animal. Because of the strength required to compress these "V" springs, it is generally suggested that you get a pair of Setters for making the set. These will give you much needed leverage so the act of compressing the springs will be easier. This trap will kill target animals quickly and can have quite an impact on local nutria when installed properly. See a 220, 280 and 330 set in this video clip using a pair of Basic Setters.
Here are the same three traps set using our Deluxe Setters.
TARGET ANIMALS: Bodygrip traps have been used for beaver, raccoon, muskrat and other animals as well as Nutria. WHERE TO USE IT: Bodygrip traps can be set many different ways. This includes den sets, tunnel sets, run sets and feeding station sets. The key is to get the trap at a point where nutria will have to "pass through". The act of passing through them will cause the trap to set providing an instant kill. Bodygrip trap stands might be of help and will be discussed in the article as well. These help to provide more effective sets for faster kills. RATE OF APPLICATION: This will vary from job to job. Generally, the more traps employed, the quicker you catch your target animals. Although you can start with only one, it is suggested that you use 2-3 where you can and more if you have ten or more nutria being targeted. It is also recommended that you match the size of the trap to the target nutria as best as possible. There are three basic sizes. The Bodygrip 220 measures 7" by 7" and will work for most any nutria except the very largest ones. For most jobs, it will be the best all around trap to use. The Bodygrip 280, pictured above, measures 8.5" by 8.5" and is better suited when the targeted nutria are larger then normal or when the type of set available is not conducive to using the smaller 220 size. The largest size available, the Bodygrip 330, measures 10" by 10" and is generally not needed. It is ideal when target animals are very large or when the types of sets that will be made require the use of a larger trap.
