DADDY LONGLEG TREATMENTS
Daddy longlegs are actually insects and not true spiders. They have small bodies with long, hair like legs that are actually quite fragile.
Daddy longlegs love shade and tend to accumulate under soffits, overhangs and the northern most facing side of the home. They’ll live on moss and other plants that grow in these shady areas and throughout the summer will grow in numbers.
DADDY LONGLEG TREATMENTS
Daddy longlegs don’t sting or bite. They’re actually quite easy to control with a good residual spray like BIFEN. Using a standard PUMP SPRAYER or 20 GALLON HOSE END SPRAYER, just spray down all sides of the home where you see activity. Within one day they’ll be dead and the Bifen will repel them for a month or two.
To make sure you get them all, treat all the way around the house. Pay special attention to the sections of the siding up under the eaves. Daddy longlegs like to hide in depressions and corners when dormant and can many times avoid being seen during the middle of day. Remember, they’re not spiders so they don’t have webbing on which to rest. They must touch the siding but their long legs do a good job of shielding them from your treatments so a thorough application is needed.
The good news is that they’re vulnerable and sensitive to these treatments. That means you can usually knock them out with one good application. And treating every 2-3 months will keep them from coming back.
