INDIAN MEAL MOTH TREATMENTS

Indian Meal Moths are what some people call pantry or seed moths. They commonly infest kitchens, pantries, basements and garages. Indian Meal Moths will target stored products like bread, cake mix, flour, pasta, corn meal and basically any kind of dried food.

Indian Meal Moths commonly find their way into the home by way of the food you purchase at your local grocery store. Eggs, larvae and pupae can easily be missed and once in your home, they’ll complete their life cycle with the last stage being the adult moth. Seeing adults flying around is usually the first sign of trouble but in some cases you might find larvae first. Either way, you’ll need to do some treating.

The first thing is to try and locate any contaminated food. Dispose of this immediately taking care to place it all in a plastic bag that can be sealed. Next, treat all shelving, cracks and crevices surrounding the area where contamination was identified. Use DFORCE AEROSOL for this treatment.

In cases where larvae are found distributed throughout the home, use PERMETHRIN to spray baseboards and carpeted areas where they might be nesting. Permethrin will last up to 30 days, is odorless and works well on Indian Meal Moths.

Lastly, be sure to install several MOTH TRAPS in the home. Traps won’t control a local infestation but they will capture foraging males. This can be important in that catching adults means you still have a problem that needs more attention.

Indian Meal Moths are a major pest throughout the United States and because we have so much information on their biology and how to treat local infestations, we have a separate website just for them that covers all you need to know.
